Luxury Hand Creams: Rodin Crema and Omorovicza Nourishing Hand Cream

I've had the Rodin Crema Luxury Hand and Body Cream and the Omorovicza Nourishing Hand Cream on my wish list for a long time. I finally decided to try them during some sales when my panic buying button was hit LOL!!

***All items purchased by me. Affiliate links included.***

Rodin Olio Lusso Crema Luxury Hand and Body Cream - $80/4oz @ beauty.com, Barneys, beautyhabit.com, oliolusso.com

Omorovicza Nourishing Hand Cream - $70/3.4oz @ Nordstrom, omorovicza.com

I decided to show a picture of these products in non-pristine, non-new goodness. Especially with the Rodin, there's a bit of character that goes into an already in use metal tube of product...I love the nooks and crannies that change as the product continues to get used up!!

My first complaint is the price of both of these…I would never have splurged on these at full price and even the sale prices hurt. Ok, maybe I shouldn't say never, but that's why it's taken forever to cross them off my wish list LOL!! I've been using the Rodin for around 3 weeks, and the Omorovicza for well over a month.

Let's talk packaging, more specifically the product containers. For the Rodin, I'm not a fan of the little twist on/off caps…actually that's my one complaint about the L'Occitane tubes as well. Especially for this size container it's small and can be difficult to twist back on if I've applied too much products and my hands are oily. I don't understand why the makers of these types of tubes can't make some sort of flip top cap??

The Omorovicza container I quite love though…the tube is more flat (takes up less space even with the large tube) and the large cap simply twists off. Oh, and a really big note…look at the Rodin tube in the picture. See the Rodin logo…from that point to the top of the tube was empty…just air!!! I'm wondering if I got a dud with less product in it or if they are all like that? If they are made like that it seems like such a large waste of the container!

Smell. I don't like the Rodin smell at all so I've only been using it for my hands. I'd love to try it all over my body, but wouldn't be able to stand such a large dispersion of the scent. Think it's the jasmine I don't like? If you do like jasmine then you should love it though lol!! I never noticed much of a fragrance with the Rodin Lip Balm (review HERE), which I love so I mistakenly assumed I'd be good with this. Not so much. The Omorovicza scent I wasn't sure about at first, but now I like it. It's hard to describe the fragrance…mainly I can say it's clean and maybe mineral-y smelling??

In the swatches above, the Rodin is on the top, and Omorovicza is on the bottom.

Texture wise the Rodin is thicker and definitely feels like a thicker cream. It also is a bit more oily in feel as opposed to the L'Occitane which would seem to be a similar product. The Omorovicza feels more like a cross between a lotion and a cream.

Rodin sinks in quickly, but the after effect I find too oily and I either can't touch anything for awhile or have to wipe my hands off on a towel. Omorovicza sinks in very quickly with no greasy or heavy feel. Both leave my hands feeling very soft.

I don't find either one as deeply hydrating as CeraVe Cream or L'Occitane, though Omorovicza comes very close. It might be my imagination, but after a week or so of using Omorovicza my hands started looking fresher!!

Omorovicza description from Omorovicza.com:

Rich enough to hydrate and nourish yet light enough to absorb instantly, this non-greasy hand cream also strengthens and firms the skin. The addition of Vitamin C helps to reduce the appearance of age spots.

Rodin description from Oliolusso.com:

Wonderfully emollient, yet light in texture, RODIN olio lusso Luxury hand and body cream contains a unique blend of powerful moisturizers, healing agents and antioxidants that is formulated to provide long lasting hydration hour after hour. Try layering CREMA with our body oil for a warmly fragrant, sensual experience.

The Rodin is a splurge for sure, but I don't think its performance comes remotely close to what the price suggests. There's not much in the positive column I can say about it. Classic case of paying for the name, and I will not repurchase. Omorovicza, on sale, I would consider buying again. Why?? Though it's not quite as hydrating as my favorite hand creams, it does come very close. I also like the lighter weight of it and I do feel my hands look better while using it - something I very much appreciate as I get older!!!
